Lifestyle photographer and video director.

I’m a Leicester lad – team of 2016 forever! – and I’m one of those lucky ones that decided early on that I wanted to work in the creative industries, starting off as a designer and evolving into a photographer and video director (mainly as I wanted to play outside!)

I got my grounding in analogue film before moving into the wonderful world of digital, though still go back to film frequently. I’m dad to three awesome kids, which has given me priceless experience for my work, and over the years I’ve collaborated with many incredible clients, travelled the world and built up a champion team of my own (see below).

So what is it like working with me?

Well I like to think its both fun and rewarding (but by all means see my client testimonials for a second opinion).

Myself and the team work hard to get the results and have a laugh on the way, as can probably be seen in the BTS shots below. I like to get involved creatively from the initial treatment right through to final delivery.

My aim is to supply high impact lifestyle imagery that is:

Exciting – energetic – spontaneous – believable – fun, and tells the story!

This is a local landmark in Rutland. I was driving by early one morning on the way to a shoot and couldn't resist stopping to have a look around. The fields had flooded so the arches of the viaduct were reflected in the water where normally you would only see grass. It was perfectly still and the mist hung in the air waiting to be burnt off by the early morning sun.

World heritage category

Garden photographer of the year awards. This triptych was taken early one morning in Orchid beach on the beautiful Frazer island in Queensland, Australia. The whole beach had taken on a surreal appearance as the seawater broke on a sandbank then drifted across the sand but didn't retreat. The result was a beach that reflected the sky perfectly for hundreds of metres in each direction. I was shooting on a haselblad film camera and wanted to show the scale of the scene in front of me so I shot my first triptych. The northern part of the island is not open to tourists so I was able to shoot without a soul in either direction, what a pleasure! I've since gone on to shoot many triptychs, mostly on my wanderings around local and international landscapes. This image also won 2 further awards in the International photography awards in the fine art landscapes category. Click on the link below to see my triptych page.

East Thames Housing

This is from a shoot for East Thames Housing Association and was shot on a blistering hot day in Hackney. We chanced upon some kids playing outside in a garden so spoke with the parents and set up the sprinkler and lighting. It was shot into the sun to get the strong flash effect and to light up the water against the building, and to make it more dramatic. Shot on a Haselblad film camera.

Personal project

From an ongoing series. The Hallaton bottle kicking event is held every May bank holiday Monday in the Leicestershire countryside. Two villages compete for a keg of ale, trying to get the "bottle" to their respective village boundary. The tradition has been going strong since pagan times and some say it was where Webb Ellis got the idea to pick up the ball and run, thereby inventing Rugby.

Nicky! what a lovely character. I have known Nicky for many years. We first worked together on a 'famous five' styled shoot with 5 kids roaming around the countryside, climbing trees and building dens. Great fun, and Nicky managed to get the kids looking suitably preened but natural, with some pretty unkempt hair! I realised then her talents with hair and soon saw her skills with make up on subsequent shoots. Since then we have worked on all sorts of lifestyle projects around the world. Nicky loves to chat and is great at putting the models at ease when they arrive, always helpful as this allows me to concentrate on setting up lighting and tech first thing in the morning.

Mark and myself have been working together on combined Photo and Video shoots since 2015. He loves a new bit of equipment so will often be found after a days shooting sitting in the hotel bar trawling the web for a some new tech. Most of it comes in very handy for our shoots, his new kinoflows allow us to shoot crafted lighting on stills and video for example. Some of his kit doesn't get used, the jury is still out on the petzval lens! He must be doing allot right though as he was selected to shoot the Queens Christmas speech this year!
Likes: Anything new and extremely expensive.

Will started off his camera op life as a pushy student. He approached a few camera ops from the Surrey camera whats app group while shooting in a pub. They liked his enthusiasm so offered him some work experience. Fast forward a few years and Will is now a camera op in his own right working on projects all over the globe. When working with us he is a super attentive camera assistant at home with stills and video

Lucy has been working with me for many years and is one of the team that shoots much of their own work these days, so we are lucky she keeps coming back for more! Lucy is great with kids, models, crew and everyone that likes to have fun. A very positive person to have on the team. Her personal work is simply brilliant and always powerful and moving. I vey much value her opinion so great to have around.

Marie loves dressing people! She is great at working out a personality by simply chatting to them and then dressing them accordingly so the model is happy as well as the photographer. She has worked with ALL the celebs via work with Hello magazine and various national newspapers but is just as happy on a Weightwatchers testimonial shoot.
