These shots are from my ongoing personal project documenting some of England’s unusual traditions. This year we had lots of rain during the weeks around Easter so by the time Hallaton bottle kicking came around the fields were flooded. I knew the shot I wanted to get, everyone covered in water, mud and the splashing of the floodwater frozen so you can almost touch it. These were also taken after about 3 hours of competition so not only were the two sets of villagers shattered to add to the feel, we also had some beautiful late afternoon spring sunshine illuminating the scene.
